T.E.M.A (Thai Esan Muscular Arts), established in 2014 (formerly Thai-Issan Massage Academy), is Hawaii's only institution certified in Advanced Thai Massage. Our program combines self-paced learning with instructor-led, hands-on training, designed to meet the evolving needs of modern healthcare and wellness.

Too often, we hear about schools that focus solely on bookwork with little to no hands-on training. While this might prepare you for an exam, it leaves you unready for the real world. Our program prioritizes comprehensive, hands-on training led by experienced instructors, empowering you with the skills and confidence for success.
To become a licensed massage therapist in Hawaii, you must complete a 570-hour program and pass the state exam. T.E.M.A. offers the training you need, delivering an unmatched experience and preparation.
Phase I: Foundations of Massage Therapy
In this introductory phase, students build a strong foundation in massage therapy, starting with core studies in Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology to understand the body’s structure and movement. Training includes proper use of massage equipment and essential practices in hygiene and sanitation for a professional setting.
Students will also learn the principles of confidentiality and professionalism and develop effective communication skills with clients.
Anatomy, Physiology, and Kinesiology • 50 hours
Phase II: Advanced Techniques and Client Connection
In this phase, students deepen their skills with techniques that promote safe and restorative recovery. They’ll focus on building a strong client-therapist connection, mastering proper body mechanics, and delivering a comprehensive full-body massage.

Theory & Practical Demonstrations • 100 hours
Phase III: Clinical Practice and Advanced Techniques
In this final phase, students build confidence by working directly with clients in a clinical setting. They gain hands-on experience with client consultations, record-keeping, clinical procedures, and supervised massage sessions. Emphasis is placed on advanced techniques, practical experience, and collaboration, preparing students for the evolving field of muscle therapy. This comprehensive training encourages continuous growth and learning from peers.
